Your New Year’s Resolutions aren’t getting away from you this year.

How do you maintain this level of inspiration throughout 2018? Are people that stick to their resolutions all year long magicians? What kind of coffee are they drinking?

So if it’s March 15th and you’ve only saved $150, it might be time to adjust your expectations. Either become more stringent with your budget, or modify the total amount saved by December to reflect your current spending.
3. Re-adjust your routine

Truth time: If you expect to notice differences in your physical and/or mental health, you’re going to have to change some things up.
A complete overhaul of your routine isn’t helpful (or realistic), but a minor change or two will help facilitate the kind of “new you” you’re going for.
For example, if your resolution was to become healthier, you’ll need to adjust your schedule to fit in 30 minutes of physical activity two or three times a week. Whether that means setting your alarm a little earlier in the morning, or getting home a little later at night, rework your routine to incorporate your goal.
4. Track your progress
How do you know how phenomenally you’re crushing your goals if you don’t record your progress?
Keep track of each success, no matter how small. Observing and celebrating each aspect of a larger accomplishment will help keep you motivated.
Start a food journal and write down everything you eat and drink throughout the day. As you work to make changes to your diet, examine what might be hindering your success. Is that 2pm Diet Coke entirely necessary, or could you get the energy boost from a cup of green tea? What would happen if you kept fast food lunches to just Fridays?
As you slowly swap in healthier options, you can begin to take notice of how your skin, sleep, and mood are affected. Write it all down. Nothing’s more motivating than having your happiness documented.
5. Break it into chunks

Having a huge, all-encompassing resolution for the year gives you one thing to focus all your energy on.
Great for zeroing in on making a big change.
Not great for maintaining long-term motivation.
Instead, break this substantial goal into manageable pieces. If your main resolution for 2018 is to get a promotion, figure out the steps you need to take to get there.
Step 1: Request more responsibilities.
Step 2: Educate yourself to properly execute these responsibilities.
Step 3: Exhibit leadership qualities.
Step 4: Accept and build upon constructive criticism.
Step 5: Confidently request the promotion.
It would be easy to get overwhelmed by the prospect of taking on a new role. By taking it one step at a time, you’ll be able to excel at each level of the process and demonstrate your value to your company.
6. Find an accountability partner

Sticking to a New Year’s Resolution is tough stuff. Why not make it easier on yourself with a buddy?
Find someone who’s hoping to achieve a similar goal as you, or who might be a bit ahead of you in reaching this goal. On days when you need an extra push, you’ll have a motivated partner to provide that boost (and vice versa).
